Mission

The Tony Meduri TBI Fund, Inc’s mission is to generate awareness for TBI (traumatic brain injury) survivors and promote helmet safety in youth sports.

The Tony Meduri TBI Fund was founded in 2015 in honor of Tony Meduri, a retired police officer of 32 years, who was hit by an uninsured, drugged driver while sitting at a red light. Tony’s seven year struggle with his life-altering brain injury and death inspired our mission to generate awareness about TBI.

We also proudly support our military and public servants who serve our community.

In 2015, we held our first fundraising event, Tony’s Turkey Trot 5k run on Thanksgiving morning in Atlantic Beach. Since then, we have more than tripled in size and this year, we were voted Best of the Beaches 5k. Funds raised from this fun community event has allowed us to help local TBI survivors attend Brooks Rehabilitation’s Clubhouse, a full-time day long-term recovery program for brain injury survivors as well as help sponsor the first Camp TBI in Jacksonville in May 2019, which provided fun and relaxing activities for TBI survivors and their caregivers.
